Plans for 2012

Thu, 2nd Feb 2012 | Posted by Ross

Hi everybody.  It’s been another busy week here at Ghostlight.  As I said in last week’s blog, I’m still hard at work on Fate/EXTRA at the moment.  One thing that has changed since last week’s blog is that the Persona 2 / Persona 3 Portable bundle release date has been moved forward to the 8th February.

This week I’ve been looking at cons.  No, I’m not working out a way to steal everyone’s money, I’m talking about conventions and expos. While we’re very happy talking to you all online we’d like to meet you all in person as well, and while sending me round to all our fans’ houses isn’t terribly practical, having a stand at some conventions would be a good way to do so.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but if you are planning on attending any conventions or expos please let us know which ones in the Comments section and we’ll look into them.  We can’t promise we’ll make it to your particular show, but we are trying to get to some.

My New Year’s resolution this time around was to cut out the teases. But, as is traditional, and although I have managed to reach February with my resolution (mostly) intact, I have found that it’s just too much fun to give up! So I thought why not break it in style?

With that in mind, here’s a quick look at what we’ve got coming up.  None of it is confirmed enough to reveal yet, but here are some juicy little morsels for you:

Firstly those of you who enjoy JRPGs on PSN will be made very happy by some of the news we’ll be able to share very soon.  I can’t say more than that, but this one is really rather cool.

We’ve also been looking into supporting a few more consoles in the coming year. Not only do we have a growing pile of Vita titles to evaluate, but we’re on the verge of acquiring licences for multiple games on a couple of systems we have not released any JRPGs on before.  Not only that but …  Hey!  Somebody help me!

*Sounds of a struggle*

Sorry for the slight technical difficulty there.  Ross has been temporarily detained.  Moving swiftly on.  We’ve also got a little update in our regular chart watch, as Persona 2: Innocent Sin appears at number 10 on the PSP chart and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky climbs to number 9.

That’s all for now, but remember you can stay in touch with us on our Twitter and Facebook pages and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight.  You can also follow Ross on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Alistair says:

Ouch that sounds painful in that stuggle, but i hope you wasn't gonna announce a JRPG for the other side (360) that never do. *taps end of cricket bat*
[GL] Ross says:

@Alistair Much as we'd love to bring over some games for our 360 owning brethren I don't think any of the games I'm referring to are for 360.
Haseo says:

Arc Rise Fantasia for Wii?! *____* (I know you did release some Wii games, but none of them was a JRPG!)
[GL] Ross says:

@Haseo I really can't comment I'm afraid. I've only just escaped from confinement and I've no desire to be captured again :)
Haseo says:

I know, don't worry XD Just a little daydream I was having, there... We really don't want you to be abused any more! (in case it's really that, anyway, please use the Japanese dub, as the English one is one of the most obnoxious dubs of all time >~<)
Rena says:

Do I hear Persona 4 and maybe Ciel (Ross know what game)
Alistair says:

That's good because No I'm not gonna say "i send the boys round" I send the gals round instead so you can have all the LOH-tits you want. [there a tit joke in there somwere] :D okay if it not for 360 or wii it must be for PSP vita & ps3. :)
CW says:

That other system wouldn't happen to be 3DS, would it? Because I'd really love SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked. ;) 3DS is also prime pickings for you since it's region locked, so you don't have to compete with those pesky importers. Basically, what I'm saying is that us 3DS owners are relying on companies like Ghostlight to bring the good stuff over!
hibiki says:

Legend of Heroes Zero no Kiseki Full Voice Edition (Vita)? Any posibility for Suikoden PSP?
[GL] Ross says:

Just a reminder everyone while I can't comment on individual games/formats beyond what I have already said I am reading your comments.
xshadowhawkx says:

I agree that Zero no Kiseki and other vita games would be great. How about the other LOH Trails games too? My PS Vita is preordered and ready... Of course due to the region locking we are seriously relying on you guys for 3DS games as well! Keep being awesome in 2012.
Michaela says:

Very excited about all the releases and hope that Ghostlight get to the conventions because it will really spread the good RPG word!
tom says:

I echo Haseo's thoughts regarding the joke of an english dub ARF received. Wii wise, I'd love to see earth seeker, but it's japanese sales are kind of a rather large point against its chances...probably too early to even think about Rodea. 3DS wise obviously overclocked would be awesome.
thelocaluk says:

I guess you guys could do well getting more jrpg games onto the DS and 3DS. Personally I'm hoping to see some love from Ghostlight for the Vita, it will give me another reason to buy one ;)
Winny says:

So... Devil Survivor Overclocked? :D
Matt says:

Yeah Arc Rise Fantasia would be great. Even though the voice acting is clearly dodgy that wouldn't bother me as the game does look really good still.
dgnfly says:

no gonna get my hopes up 2 much but i'll doubt it's anywhere near getting queens blade psp game or heroes phantasia. also not looking forward 2 you guys publishing for other pltforms cause i doubt there many anime or jrpg fans on xbox. and wii is pretty much a dead console.
MrRandom says:

You couldn't stop teasing for very long could you? If I see you at a con I will have my revenge! >:D
sundayflower says:

I'm sure Nintendo would appreciate another (several?) sold 3DS a PAL release of Devil Survivor Overclocked would bring them :D
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

Still hoping you have the odd PS3 dev-kit laying around? Oh those PSN games, are we talking PSP or PS3, or both, or even those PS2 classics EU should be getting soon? I know I asked un answerable questions but I can hope :D
Ben says:

As much as I'd love to see Ghostlight publish Arc Rise Fantasia, I have a feeling that if it is ever published in Europe, it will be Rising Star Games who do it. Devil Survivor Overclocked, however...
Eru says:

I would guess titles, but I like being surprised...though if a certain title was brought over my brother would love you forever - what title? Oh I can't say ; ) As for con's, I'll be at the Midlands MCM in a few weeks for Hironobu Sakaguchi (man has shaped my life in more ways than one!) and of course London MCM...which by the way, I have yet to meet any GL'ers despite me having gone to the last three...
Jert says:

I hope atleast one of them is Devil Survivor Overclocked.*crosses fingers*
[GL] Ross says:

@Eru I usually head down to the MCM Expo in London but we don't usually go as Ghostlight. Maybe this year I'll pursuade them to have a stall there :)
Haseo says:

@Ben: RSG already said long ago they were not going to publish ARF anymore. No actual explanation was given, though.
Ailtin says:

You surely live in danger, don't you Ross ? xD As for conventions - why not maybe visit Germany for the Gamescom ? Last year was a huge blast with a lot of visitors and I think seeing a Ghostlight stand somewhere in the halls would be quite terrific :) I will keep up with the blog anyway and try to endure this sweat-breaking teases. Cheers !
Chris Geisteblitz says:

What about Valkyria Chronicles 3 with English subtitles and Japanese voices on PSN. ^^
Tom H says:

Teeside University holds an Animex convention every year, where lots of people from the games industry (possibly animation too) appear to do lectures and workshops.
Ben says:

One more thing, Ross: obviously you daren't comment any further on Ghostlight's future games, but any chance of giving us a hint about when you will be able to tell us more? An announcement of an announcement?
Koffie says:

Hell yeah Vita titles! Can't wait for Persona 4 to come out for Vita. I won't buy a Vita until there's been at least one re-design and a price drop. But I'll even buy Persona 4 for Vita without owning one if a nice CE comes out!
NarukamiYuu says:

please bring devil survivor overlocked fr 3ds in europe!
Chris says:

Please please please have Devil Survivor Overclocked on mind. It was one of the titles that excited me most when the 3DS was announced.
Andrefpvs says:

Here's fan feedback! Persona 4 The Golden please :D Thanks!
Ruri says:

Ha, very cool way to end the post. Hm if you don't mind my asking, but any clue as to when we can expect Fate/Extra? First half of this year y/n?
podgoor says:

I see that I'm not the only one, who wants Devil Survivor Overclocked. :D
[GL] Ross says:

@Ben I don't have much idea when we'll be able to announce them at the moment but I'll let you know as soon as we know. @Ruri It should be fairly early this year. We're trying to get it out as soon as possible. We'll let you know when we have a date.
XenoNick says:

Would really really REALLY love you guys if you bought Devil Survivor Overclocked to Europe.
MaroonSkein says:

"Firstly those of you who enjoy JRPGs on PSN will be made very happy by some of the news we'll be able to share very soon. I can't say more than that, but this one is really rather cool." I hope it's Shin Megami Tensei III and both Digital Devil Saga games as PS2 classics. They are fantastic games, and the new generation of gamers that wasn't around in the PS2 days deserves a chance to play them.
[GL] Ross says:

@Ruri Sorry I missed you question earlier. We're expecting to release it fairly early on this year but we don't have an exact release date yet.
Seishoujyo says:

SMT If would be cool on PSN. But on 3DS we all want Devil Survivor Overclocked !!!
Harry Smith says:

Eurogamer is the one convention I never miss, it would be great if Ghostlight would be able to get a booth there! :)
Aurelie says:

Suikoden 1 & 2 and Magnacarta on PSP would be so great !
Sam says:

Here's to hoping that the PSN release is Xenogears :D
garethofthedead says:

Devil Survivor Overclocked and Etrian Odyssey IV would be good
Lars says:

Persona 4 the Golden for PS Vita? :-)
