Ghostlight needs you! Devil Survivor 2 pre-orders open

Hi everyone. First off, I just wanted to thank you all for your support and comments this past week. We value all of your opinions and whilst we of course appreciate your positive support, we also understand and share your frustrations regarding the difficulties we’ve faced in releasing Devil Survivor 2 in the PAL region. Well, the moment of truth has arrived and pre-orders for the title are now live. As I said last week, we’re making DS2  available across two deals and we hope that you’re ready to help us reach our minimum order quantity in order to release this excellent SRPG. We’ll have some images of what we’re loosely referring to as the “Gold Edition” of DS2 very soon, but in the meantime, here are the (slightly updated) details :):

Standalone Release

Devil Survivor 2 (DS)

This special edition will be factory sealed and include an exclusive A4 folded poster featuring the cover art. Anyone pre-ordering the game will have the option to include their name in the manual and also as a bonus, pre-ordered units will feature a special gold coloured Devil Survivor logo on the inlay.

Pre-Order price £24.99/€29.99

The game will be available to all PAL territories.

Devil Survivor Bundle

Devil Survivor 2 (DS) & Devil Survivor Overclocked (3DS) with a £10.00 discount!

You'll receive Devil Survivor 2 as above and both games will be factory sealed. As with Option 1, anyone pre-ordering the bundle will have the option to include their name in the DS2 manual.

Pre-Order price £49.98/€59.98 (usual price £59.98/€69.98)

Regrettably, we will not be able to ship this bundle to Germany due to an existing distribution agreement.

(All prices exclude P&P.)

Pre-orders will close on Friday the 30th August, by which time we hope to have reached our target of 1,800 units ordered of Devil Survivor 2 between these two offers. If we hit our target, then we’re expecting the game to be released by the end of September. However, should we not meet this quota, then everyone who ordered Devil Survivor 2 will receive a full refund while those who ordered the double pack will have the option to receive Devil Survivor Overclocked with the £10.00 discount.

Before I go, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve seen the proof copy for the Elminage Original art book, or to be more precise, the Bestivarum Vocabulum and I have to say that it looks brilliant. Just a reminder that pre-orders for this incredibly Limited Edition of Elminage Original will be available very soon so keep your eyes peeled. While I’m on the subject, the image I posted last week featuring all the goodies in the Limited Edition was only a mock up of the contents and is not actually drawn to scale.

That’s all for now, but if you haven’t already done so you can pre-order Devil Survivor 2 here, or here if you want to pick up Devil Survivor Overclocked too. I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

If the order will reach the 1800 units expected, will the game be released outside the site too? BTW, manual and cover won't be localized in other languages except for english?

Is there any chance you guys might publish Elminage 2 PSP?

European Nintendo Direct mentioned Soul Hackers yesterday. I'm not saying DeSu2 should have been in there too, but it would have been great visibility for this campaign, if it did.

Anyway, I'm pleased to hear that preorders are going well. Hopefully the game get's released. I will personally make an unboxing video of it, to show everyone what kind of fan service some European publishers can give to their fans.

Can't you guys release it on eShop? No manufacturing cost, also it will be always available. Games like this often ends up almost impossible to get after a while (like that cave story retail release :/ )

Just per-ordered this one. Any idea of how many total of copies are ordered so far? Would be great to finally see a EU version of this game.

When I click on the white and blue Pre-order link on the webpage it doesn't bring me anywhere. Could it be that orders from Switzerland are also restricted?? Thx

You have killed the SMT2 release. If you made a re-relese as in Japan (full voiced + new scenario) for many people would this be a "must buy". But this one, 25Ł for old DS game... sorry.

I´m so sad.... :-(

yeesh the wait until the 30th August to see if the sale targets have been reached is gonna be killing. It's only the 5th and I already feel like checking everyday lol.

I would really love to pre-order SMT Devil Survivor 2 but unfortunately I can't pay in Euros and I also can't pay with my credit card, I've only see the option to pay with pay pal.

Is there any other option I can pre-order the game ?

Preordered the game. But where was the option to include your name in the manual? Or will it happen automatically?

hey man could you let us know when its almost the number we need? of course we want this and without a doubt it will be released. EVERY shin megami tensei game should be released  we europeans have lost one of the best the devil summoner 2 if you had something like this we could have saved the game because of the region locked... good initiative let us hope its not too late

Aargh, still only PayPal as a payment option.

@BUTTERS If we reach 1800 we will be offering it to retail again.

Ross Brierley

@Rini11 I'll suggest it to the rest of the team. It might depend on how the first one does though.

Ross Brierley

@MariusDagestad We have released the patch.  When you get the game you should go to the eShop to download it :)

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@ErnisD Unfortunately not.  It's a DS title and there are technical reasons why we can't releasing it on DSiware.

@Marck13  Hi. Blue button only add 1 copy to basket. Select checkout (top left) on site :-)

BenoitRen

@Koapa But Break Record hasn't even been released in Japan yet!

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@KoapaThe reasons we're not waiting for the 3DS remake are as follows:

1) No one can actually guarantee that they'll be able to release Break Record until a deal is reached to publish it.

2) We've already done most of the work on the game. Seeing as there are some people out there who would like the game as long as we can break even on the manufacturing costs we'd rather allow them to play it rather than just sit on it.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Lux We're still collating the numbers.  I'll let you know when we have more.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@SebastianSchewe I think Paypal can also take money from your bank account.  If not you could try contacting us and we might be able to help you.  Maybe.

Tony Murtagh
Tony Murtagh

@alucards74 I was charged €33.67. So, if we round both of ours off to €34, that is still a fantatstic price. €30 as advertised and €4 shipping. It's a steal.

BenoitRen

@Veltro What you can do is open a PayPal account, link it to your bank account, and transfer funds from your bank account to your PayPal account. Then you can pay using your PayPal balance. The rate is the same as when paying with a credit card.

I've done this a couple times myself. The only drawback is that it takes a couple days to transfer funds, so if you need to pay for something right away (like an eBay auction), you better have an alternative. But in this case you have time until 30 August.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Lux I'll see what I can find out when I get into work on Monday.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@alucards74 Thank you.  I'm afraid that at the moment there's no option to change the currency :(

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Jones I think it might happen automatically. I'm not positive on that but it might be an idea to contact us with your order details if you want a different name.

Ben Wicks
Ben Wicks moderator

@BenoitRen I've just checked and although I don't know if it varies from country to country there should be a link under the paypal log in field that says "Pay with a debit or credit card". Click that and you should be able to pay without logging in or creating an account.

Ben Wicks
Ben Wicks moderator

@BenoitRen You don't have to be a paypal user, you should be able to pay by card without logging in to paypal at all

@Ross BrierleyThanks for the quick reply. And, what about the other question? Will the game be sold with the package only in english or you'll localize it too? :)

Marck13
Marck13

Wow, I completely missed that -.- Thx! Now my order is sent and paid. Hope the 1'800 will be reached, come on people!

Koapa
Koapa

@Ross Brierley @Koapa Thank you for your replay.

I will support you, cause I think you are really good at your work.

25 Ł (I already bought SMT:Overlocked) is a bit much for me, but hope it will reach 1800 pre-orders.

PS: You should promote this release more, cause only a few people know about it. (considering more then 52 mil DS + 9 3DS mil owners in Europe.

T1redmonkey
T1redmonkey

@Ross Brierley Would be good if you guys could have some sort of 'tracker' that shows how many copies have been bought as well.  I'm sure people on the fence with this will be more likely to buy if they see the target is within sight!

JWiley_12
JWiley_12

@Ben Wicks For me there was just text saying "pay with credit card", but no actual link. :-) Anyway, I managed to get a preorder in, glad the ordeal is over. :-)

Will Ghostlight be posting intermediate results about how the "campaign" is going? I'd be interested to know how many preorders you already got in so far.

BenoitRen
BenoitRen

@Ben Wicks My biggest problem with PayPal is their terrible currency conversion rates. Is it possible to order the game in euros at the advertised price (in euros, which is €29,99)?

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Marck13Glad you got there in the end :)

Just to clarify for anyone else reading this you can order from Switzerland

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@BenoitRen @Ross Brierley @alucards74 The reason we put a price in Euros on the blog was to give people using that currency a rough idea of what they could expect to pay.
