Elminage pre-orders coming next week

Hi everyone.  Welcome back to the Ghostlight blog.  Many of you have been asking me to give you some advance warning of when the Elminage pre-orders are due.  So you can snag one of only 300 of these awesome bundles.

Well I’m happy to tell you that we’re expecting pre-orders for Elminage to open next Thursday afternoon when we will also be able to announce the price and release date for this excellent dungeon crawler.   We’ll be issuing reminders through our Facebook and Twitter pages so feel free to keep an eye on them if you think that would be handy :).

The other thing you’ve all been asking about is how the Devil Survivor 2 pre-orders are going.  Well I do now have numbers for you and I can report that we have had 627 pre-orders so far.  As terrific as the response has been, and we thank you enormously for your support, we know that there are still a number of you out there that would like to join this very select group. We would like to remind everyone that the pre-order for DS2 and the DS2/DSO double pack are only open for another two weeks. The closing date is set for 30th August 2013.

Devil Survivor 2 is available in two packages:

Standalone Release

Devil Survivor 2 (DS)

This special edition will be factory sealed and include an exclusive A4 folded poster featuring the cover art.  Anyone pre-ordering the game will have the option to include their name in the manual and also as a bonus, pre-ordered units will feature a special gold coloured Devil Survivor logo on the inlay.

Pre-Order price £24.99/€29.99

The game will be available to all PAL territories.

Devil Survivor Bundle

Devil Survivor 2 (DS) & Devil Survivor Overclocked (3DS) with a £10.00 discount!

Both games will be factory sealed and as with Option 1, anyone pre-ordering the bundle will have the option to include their name in the DS2 manual.

Pre-Order price £49.98/€59.98 (usual price £59.98/€69.98)

Regrettably, we will not be able to ship this bundle to Germany due to an existing distribution agreement.

 (All prices exclude P&P.)

Remember, pre-orders will close on Friday 30th August, by which time we hope to have reached our target of 1,800 units ordered of Devil Survivor 2 between these two offers. If we hit our target, then we’re expecting the game to be released by the end of September. However, should we not meet this quota then everyone who ordered Devil Survivor 2 will receive a full refund, while those who ordered the double pack will have the option to receive Devil Survivor Overclocked with the £10.00 discount.

That’s all for now, but if you haven’t already done so, you can pre-order Devil Survivor 2 here or the DS2/DSO double pack from here

I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Hello, I have placed a second order for devil survivor 2 and was wondering where and how I should request a different name to be included in the manual for the second copy.   (It's a gift for my brother)  Thank you, any help would be really appreciated!

Those waiting for Devil Survivor 2 Break Record need to understand this game doesn't have an announced release date in Japan beyond Q4 2013. Atlus USA haven't announced that they have it yet and with the Index bankruptcy thing going on, it's very unlikely we'l see the game in English in England till the end of next year. I suggest people who want to play Devil Survivor 2 support the Ghostlight release. You get the complete story anyway, beyond a few enhancements the 3ds version might get and a few extra story bits, the DS version is worth buying anyway.

Dude

please tell me you will try to release shin megami tensei IV for the 3ds :D

I'm going to pre order DeSu 2 very soon

Damn that's a shame. My order is through you guys anyway but I'd imagine a lot of people have gone through amazon just because they already have an account registered etc. Hopefully we still make the goal!

You have to limit the number of preorders to one per costumer and make sure the package is really sturdy to make sure every copy of Elminage arrives in mint condition without any damage. You have to do this please.

I'm afraid that since we cannot track the orders Amazon orders do not count towards the final total. However should we make the 1800 orders through our site we will be offering it to retail so I'd imagine pre-orders would be honoured.

I'm afraid due to licensing restrictions we cannot ship to the US

Limiting the pre-orders to *one at a time*  would make sure the scalpers can't scoop it all up, and give a chance for people to order a game for a couple of friends too.

I would love to have these and I would like to support you. Would you ship to the US?

Update:-

Just watched some gameplay of this on youtube, it seems VERY similar to the Wizardry series ( both the DW Bradley version AND the later versions that came out on PSN and IPAD). Even to the extent where it had all the same classes from the PC version.

This will have to be a SERIOUSLY cheap game for me to consider I'm afraid, as, whilst it has nice music, it has really irritating menu sounds ! I notice the official game trailer for the USA version doesn't have any sound effects at all !

It should also be noted that it looks kind of rough and basic, not a touch on the Etrian Games or the aforementioned Wizardry games.

I am revising my earlier comment about the price of this game. For me personally, it will need to be sub £20.00 for me to consider a purchase having watched the trailer and several minutes of gameplay.

That said, Kudos to Ghostlight for making it available in the UK, that's a cool move. ( just pick a better game next time ? ).

Still up for the Devil Survivor game you're making Ghostlight !

Why do I get the sneaking feeling that the price for Eliminage is going to be outrageously expensive ?

We get 1 weeks notice before we are told the price of the game, and yet Ghostlight obviously have a price in mind, so why not tell us in advance ?

Having that knowledge could rule the game out from many peoples purchase list if they have too long to think about it I guess.

Come on Ghostlight....lets have a £24.99 price point for Eliminage.

Why did you guys decide to only leave the preorders open for a month? a) I don't think thats enough time to get the required amount of preorders and b) the target is a little high, I had a bad feeling about it since the announcement, that it wouldn't be doable.

Just take a look at Kickstarter for some examples of these projects where they set the targets way too ambitious and the whole thing ends up being for naught. I really commend you guys for looking at how much it would need for you to break even and make profit, and then base your targets on that, because I think it was one of the only ways you could release a DS game in this time and environment in gaming (we're kind of in the middle of generation switches, and people are either not wanting to buy DS games or save up money for 3DS/Vita/next gen home consoles.)

My point is that you guys handled the DS2 situation pretty well and I really hope the preorder numbers are met, but at this point around halfway towards the end, it doesn't look like it will release. I've held off importing for ages in the hope that it would come out in PAL regions, and this edition would be a really cool thing to see released.

Would you be able to push back the deadline if you get to a certain amount?

Will Ghostlight go to Gamescom? Any new annoucements perhaps ?

I'm afraid I'm not going to be pre-ordering DS2 :( I'm waiting on the enhanced 3DS port. You should work on getting that released here in a reasonable time frame instead.

I've even seen big companies such as Nintendo make the exact same mistake with their Hyrule Historia Limited Edition. I think it was limited to 1,700 units and 1 man ended up with vast majority and the rest going to smaller resellers.

Matt Coelho
Matt Coelho

It's either upset a handful or a very large portion of the people who wanted this, the ball is in your court. We all do respect and I thank you for bringing this out. However if you don't limited this strictly it's only going to make many people angry. It will only take a few scalpers to scoop up the entire lot. I've seen this happen so many times with limited print run of games, gaming artbooks, figurines and other merch. Please do what is right by the majority. The likes my suggestion received and Kristoffer, Liam and William voicing the exact same concern speak for itself.

627? That's weak. Oh well. Looking forward to Code Break, then. It's a shame tat I won't see my name printed in a manual.

Chris Smith

Just a thought that came to mind regarding DS2. Is the total number only counting how many orders have been made through the GL store because I noticed that it has a listing to pre-order on Amazon now. I mean the Amazon version obviously isn't gonna include the extra stuff I would imagine but like can you see the how many orders have been made there or do they not let you see that sort of info even though you are the publishers?

Row
Row

I don't really see the reason to preorder, unless you want the overclocked edition since the DS games can be imported. Or does my money go towards potentially bringing other rare games to PAL region?

MrGray

Why don't you release Devil Survivor 2 Break Code? I would buy 3DS version, but I'm not sure, I want to buy DS game...

Kristoffer Gustafson

Well, if not the scalping will commence on ebay an hour or so after the pre-orders open. It hurts the fans and only profts the scalpers.

Ghostlight

I'll mention it to the rest of the team but 1 is definitely too low a limit. I already know of some people who are unable to order online and so are getting friends who are also want one to get one for them.

I sure hope your site can this time handle the extra stress when the pre-orders open.

Argh, I really wanted to know the price for Elminage Original now to know if this is even something I can afford! How am I supposed to budget for this?!

I've tried to get the word out for DS2, but everyone's gotta help out here unless they've already done so. But you can post it in other places too, maybe you forgot something.

I'll be putting down my DS2 pre-order this week or next. And yes, PLEASE limit Eliminage to 1 per customer. And do you have a time frame for when it might go up? I tend to work in to the late afernoon/evening so I would hate to come home to find out it's already sold out.

RinOkumura
RinOkumura

@lorr_alien Add another address with your brother's name on it and change it for the copy that you want your brother to have, if you ordered them separately. I think that should work but I guess it's safer to ask them.

RinOkumura

@Mattt12123 Yeah, it's planned for December in Japan.

I hope the pre orders have caught up a little by now. Well... "a lot" would be even better.

RinOkumura

@Dude That game will be released by Nintendo themselves here in Europe.

@Weegee Jimmy I've already asked this question via e-mail and got the following reply "Unfortunately we are only licensed to produce and distribute games for countries that are in the PAL European format region. The USA is not in that region and so we are not permitted to send you the game."

RinOkumura
RinOkumura

@Berserk_Alucard I want this to happen too. I don't mind waiting a little longer. This really needs to reach more people somehow.

BenoitRen
BenoitRen

@John Thornton You're waiting for something that might never be localised (Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, anyone?).

JWiley_12
JWiley_12

@Row Also, all the people who preordered will get a Gold Edition. This will be ONE OF THE RAREST DS releases out there, with a print of just around 1800 (if the preorder target is reached).

RinOkumura
RinOkumura

@Row You could, but this isn't just any game release. Wouldn't you like your name in the "Special thanks" list in the manual? I dunno about you but that's pretty cool to me. You'll also get a poster. If you get the US version, you'll just get the game. Both should be about the same price with shipping from the US. I think Ghostlight's deal is way better.

If this reaches it's goal then they'll know there's interest thus maybe we'll see more game of the same kind in Europe. Definitely. I'd guess so.

@MrGray

There are several reasons why we don't want to just wait.

1) No one can actually guarantee that they'll be able to release Break Record until a deal is reached to publish it.

2) We've already done most of the work on the game.  Seeing as there are some people out there who would like the game as long as we can break even on the manufacturing costs we'd rather allow them to play it rather than just sit on it.

Ross Brierley

@P We've beefed it up  so fingers crossed.

@BenoitRen

Devil Survivor 2 Break Record will 100 percent be localised by Atlus USA, however there is no publisher at the moment and it's very unlikely we'l get the game here in England for another 12+ months. It's not out till the end of the year in Japan, not to mention Atlus USA haven't announced it, I would say a minimum of Christman 2014 for a PAL release, if people want to wait over 12 months to play the 3DS edition instead of supporting Ghostlight that's their choice I guess.

Lux
Lux

@RinOkumura I just don't see how the 1,800 preorders are supposed to happen until August 30th. Half the time is up, the initial rush is over and we still don't have even half of the purchases needed. As much as I want this special edition, I see no way in hell this is going to happen.

I had high hopes that the number would be around 1,000 or 1,300, but 627 is just the final nail in this coffin. I dunno, Ghostlight should have skipped this one - the Japanese release of Code Break is imminent. I just don't get the idea of trying to release a DS game (that's been out for months in the US, by the way) when the DS's life cycle is clearly over and an updated version is right around the corner. Why not putting all the effort into localising the 3DS version?

As I said. On the one hand it's a shame that we won't be getting this, on the other hand I just don't get it.

BenoitRen
BenoitRen

@Mattt12123"Devil Survivor 2 Break Record will 100 percent be localised by Atlus USA"

We don't know that for sure. The same thing could have been said about Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, and look where that got us.

BenoitRen
BenoitRen

@Lux"Why not putting all the effort into localising the 3DS version?"

Because, as has been said time and again, they've already done all the work on the DS version, and there's no guarantee that Break Record will get an English localisation.

RinOkumura
RinOkumura

@Lux @RinOkumura I'm not saying that the DS version is better than the 3DS version, but it could still be almost a year until the new version is out in the US. And we all know it takes even longer until Europe gets it. Many people imports older DS titles, sure I'm one of them. I still think this was a pretty cool deal though...

I hadn't even heard about this until yesterday so there's still a chance many people would buy the game but wont know they can get it here.
