Digital Devil Saga 2 coming to PSN this week

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the PSN release of Digital Devil Saga. I know that many of you have been asking if the sequel, Digital Devil Saga 2, will also be coming to PSN, allowing you to continue the storyline.

Well, I’m pleased to report that it was confirmed to me earlier today that we’ll be releasing Digital Devil Saga 2 on PSN this Wednesday, priced at £6.49.  What that means is that you’ll be able to continue your game of Digital Devil Saga as soon as you finish the first game! :)

Unlike the first game in the series, Digital Devil Saga 2 was actually released shortly after I joined Ghostlight, although, like with the original game, I never actually worked on it as it was more or less completed before I joined.

The DDS2 storyline is a continuation of the first game, so if you’re not sure which one to go for I would recommend starting with the first game. Those of you who did play the first game should enjoy the same dark plot and the revelations contained in the sequel.

In terms of game play Digital Devil Saga 2 takes many of the best features of the first game, including retaining the excellent “Press Turn” battle system of the prequel and of course the game still features the great storytelling and artwork you’d expect from an Atlus game :). Some new features do make it into the game, including the Karma Ring system, which allows you to increase your characters stats by equipping the ring with gems. There’s also the new Berserk form, a limited transformation where only part of a character’s body is changed.

When it was released back in 2007 Digital Devil Saga was an immediate hit with the press.  RPG fan gave it 99% calling it “Easily the finest game I’ve had a chance to play this year and stand’s to be one of the greatest games of this generation.” Meanwhile Eurogamer.net gave it 9/10 saying “Digital Devil Saga 2 is everything an excellent sequel should be.”

I picked it up recently, but won't play for a while. Bit of a backlog of Vita games at the moment.

Yeah, also you forgot to reply: if I bought both games, will the second game recognize the clear save data from the first one on my PS3?

I believe it when I see it. The European PS Store team is known to forget to release stuff.

As someone already said, can you give us a confirmation that the import save feature works? Would be a shame to *cough* "meet someone" *cough* for no reward and not being able to have those few choices you can make in the first one have an impact on somebody else.

This is beyond awesome! Any hope for Raidou Kuzunoha games? I know the second one never saw the light of day in Europe, and as a *huge* SMT fan I would love to see it brought over in one form or another.

Maybe because some people don't like PC gaming or sony might have the rights to theses games

I'm afraid I don't have any news on Nocturne at the moment.

Thanks I was expecting weeks if not months of waiting. Soon as it goes live I will be buying. Any word on nocturne? With any luck we will see more ps2 RPGs , if rogue galaxy and dark chronicle got released I would die a happy man

I'm well over the halfway mark in DDS2 on the PS2 (lets just say I've been through multiple roster changes), and progress is slow. So I can't see myself rebuying this yet without being able to import my original save data. So once I've finished that, and then worked through the PSN DDS1, I'll be in a position to pick this one up. For anyone who hasn't got them yet, though, and who like the various SMT games (especially SMT3 and Persone 3&4) I'd highly recommend these pickups.

There will be a delay in some countries while we're waiting for those translations to come in. Shouldn't be too long though,

One guy on the NeoGAF forums confirmed that it works 100% fine. Guess we can go buy them without worries now :p
