Hi everyone. I’m pleased to report we now have some light at the end of the tunnel for SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked and I’m pleased to be able to report that the game has now entered manufacturing. I realise that this long wait has been frustrating for everyone and on behalf of everyone here at Ghostlight, I would like to thank you all for your patience.
Of course the question you all want to know the answer to is, “when is it coming out?” Well, I can tell you that while the date it is not yet 100% confirmed, we are expecting to release the game across Europe towards the end of March in time for Easter. Please keep your eyes peeled, as we will be announcing the confirmed release date in the next couple of weeks and we’ll also be opening up pre-orders through our site.
In other news, the latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine not only contains a stunning 87% review for Devil Survivor Overclocked (the highest score this month by the way), but there’s also a review of our rather brilliant 3DS driving game, Crash City Mayhem, which they’ve awarded 75% calling it “Shamelessly ridiculous driving fun.”
Finally, just a little reminder for all you Atlus fans out there that Maken Shao: Demon Sword will be coming to PSN as part of the PS2 Classics programme next week. That’s all for now – I’m off to start work evaluating a cool little JRPG on PSP which I hope to be telling you more about very soon :)
I’ll be back next week, but until then you can follow Ghostlight on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

As a guy who loved and imported the first game, I have an honest question to you, Ghostlight:
Do you guys seriously hate money or something? There are plenty of examples of other game getting a faster localisation than DSO (which isn't much, considering that this game has been in the works of coming over for more than a year).
Another serious question: how many people are working on this? It seems like you've got three guys, a contractor and a team of gibbons working on this. I'm honestly disgusted.
...but will still end up buying this anyway, because I was a rabid fan of the original DS game. Keyword - was. I've had plenty of time to calm down and start playing other games and forget about Devil Survivor Overclocked.
If I wasn't as ardent of a fan as I am, wouldn't even bother writing this rant.
Hi Ross, I don't want to get annoying or anything, specially since you guys finally managed to set a day for DSO, but in regards of DS2, a 3DS version has just been announced in Japan, it will be called Devil Survivor 2 Break Code: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=48697995
Last year in another forum, seems like you commented about some rumors in a positve way about a possible 3DS release of DS2, I think it wouldn't be possible to get any concrete answers about this right now, but if you guys get to bring the 3DS version, I just hope it won't take as long as the original DS version to come over, I'm sure many of us would double dip, just be sure to make the 3DS version a Collector's Edition.
Finally! Thank you based-Ross!
I guess there won't be a Collector's Edition, right? :(
please release soul hackers for 3ds PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU!!!
*fingers crossed* hopes of a release date pre 22nd XD
We talk about it a bit more here http://www.digitallydownloaded.net/2013/02/interview-ghostlight-on-why.html
Dose that include dubbing for non English speaking/reading people
Sorry for the delayed responses I've been ill these last few days,
@Ross Brierley hope you're feeling better now, welcome back =)
@Noelemahc Thanks :)
I can't go into details because we're under NDA but the EU and North American TRC are different and this requires coding changes.
Coding? It's reigon protected... Change the reigon 3ds can't be much different between American and English but then England would probably get it first cos you know
How many delays do you guys need to bring over an already translated game? I mean you have to admit taking an entire year to bring over an already translated game is really bad. I mean doesn't it take about a year to make a game like DESU from scratch?
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, Ross is still off ill at the moment. I will get someone to answer your questions as soon as we can.
Amazon's saying April 5th (I know that's just a place holder but still xD)
Not too late ...
Is there any chance of DSO being released in the e-shop, or just by cartridge?
@BubblesMcGee At the moment I don't have any news on an e-shop release.
'We are expecting to release the game across Europe towards the end of March in time for Easter...' soooo probably at most by 20th- 25th maybe earlier since they started production last week... and if they make couple of thousand an hour I think we'd be seeing it by the 20th if not earlier
Follow-up question: will it be available in Russia? If not, I can order it from you fine people, right? Do you ship stuff overseas?
@Noelemahc I can't say for certain which countries will have the game as it depends on agreements with retailers however barring distribution deals preventing us we do ship overseas.
Yes!! I have been waiting for this, I almost lost hope
i bet its coming out around 22nd... thats what most shops are saying either way I'm gonna have 2 games to play by the end of the month (monster hunter 3 ultimate) lol
Adding this to the pile so you'll be able to cite more people to the higher-ups:
WE CAN HAZ SOUL HACKERS NAO, PLZ? It's coming out in the US in April, and so far nobody seems the least bit interested in bringing it over to the Eurozone.
Same goes for Shin Megami Tensei IV. Beat the clock, release it in the EU before it comes out in the US (there's been no official statement on a US release thus far), make the Americans import it from here!
Because, seriously, this "having to wait two years after the game came out in the US" thing is starting to get really silly.
@Noelemahc You do realise that the 3DS is region locked, right? Americans wouldn't import the European version of SMT: Soul Hackers.
@BenoitRen That was my point. Right now, most folks have to BUY a US-region 3DS and import US-region games. This boosts US-region sales and dumps EU-region sales because by the time stuff shows up in the EU region, everyone either doesn't care anymore or bought the US-region equivalent. As a result, Japanese companies worry more about coming to the American market rather than the European one. and we get less games and they get more games and that's the world we live in now.
Now, imagine if the situation was to magically reverse itself...
@Noelemahc
I'm one of those to blame XD. I couldn't wait to I sold my UK 3DS and bought US one.
@BenoitRen @Noelemahc That and the fact that Ghostlight generally don't localize anything and publish the European versions.
@Noelemahc it surprises me that Atlus doesn't have some sort of patnership deal in place with Ghostlight and others to help speed up release of games in euro regions!
I too am sick of waiting. This isn't the 90s!
Sadly I'm expecting Soul Hackers to be a 2014 release for euro regions (unless someone steps in). Same goes for SMT4. I'm expecting at least 12 months delay.
It feels so good to get an update on this. The wait has certainly been painful but I can't thank you enough for bringing it over here. I really hope we won't have to wait as long for upcoming Atlus titles like Soul Hackers and SMT IV. Anyway, the end of March is perfect for me since my birthday is around there. Thank you, Ghostlight.
While I really appreciate your localization efforts and will be definitely buying overclocked, I'm probably getting a North American 3ds this year so I can play Soul Hackers and SMTIV without waiting 18 months :P
Feb 28 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009YDL2P6/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361611242&sr=8-1&pi=SL75)
Amazon uk says 28... Dose that mean if you make enough in a week amazon gets to ship out early? I agree with Narukami, it's just basically the same as the us version with the exception of the region lock... Just change reigon install on carts and presto... If amazon has placed the order logically they should get first shipment cos places like GAME are supplied by their own distributor
@ghostlightgames Any chance for an Australian release or should I be importing?
@Tamazoid I've been told that we’re expecting the game to be available at retail in Australia
Ghostlight. You gurys are so awesome! I already played through the DS version of that game but I guess it's time to play the enhanced 3DS version once its released here in Europe. (:
I hope that you will release more awesome games like this one in near future (for example Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
Love you guys (:
@ghostlightgames awesome thanks
@ghostlightgames amazon.de has march 31st as release dat, any comment? http://t.co/yEc1wwzMVy
@animeblog_de There's no official date yet but we are expecting it to be towards the end of March.
@ghostlightgames @animeblog_de >:(
@ghostlightgames Thanks! It's late but still good. I just hope to have similar news for DS2 quickly :)
@ghostlightgames Been waiting ages for this. Pretty excited!
@ghostlightgames thank you. i am glad this is finally coming out. yes it's late, yes i already imported the US one. but still, thanks
I know you're never say but I put the blame squarely on Atlus US or Atlus Jp. Everyone of there games seem to get delayed for Europe even when a European publisher picks one up straight away. It happens to often with to many different publishers for it be anything else.
About time!
I just hope sales go well and people havent forgotten about this game cos its taken so long (I don't blame you Ghostlight - you guys are cool, I blame Atlus for not having something in place to bring their games over to euro regions faster).
Yes-yes-yes.... At the long last !!!! Preorders, pretty please....
YES!
Now do EP! lol
@Morolian Tu comptes le refaire ?
@Kouryu002 nan, ou pas avant longtemps, mais avec la 3DS zonée, les sorties euro des megaten m'intéressent vachement plus qu'avant :p
Look. I appreciate you guys localising this but c'mon. 18 months? Are we going to wait 18 months for the next atlus game? In another topic you said there were issues you couldn't discuss but seriously I just want to know that if you decide to localise Smt4 or soul hackers you won't take almost 2 friggin years. I know people are happy we are getting this but AUGUST 2011 this game came out in US. Ghost light picked it last march and took this long and the game is the exact same version as the us version. You guys aren't even translating it. So those poor German buggers who can't speak English cannot play it.
