Delays & Sales

Fri, 29th Jun 2012 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone.  Hope you’ve all been having a good week.  We’ve got lots of news for you this week, including news of some massive savings on our PSN titles, but first up I’ve got some bad news for you all.

I’m sorry to have to report that, due to some issues that we’ve faced in getting the game age rated, the release of Agarest: Generations of War 2 will be delayed.  I can  report that everything has been resolved and the game is approved, but unfortunately the knock on effect has meant that we’ve missed our intended manufacturing date.  The official street release date is now the 10th August and we’ll of course be doing everything we can to ensure that all pre-orders are shipped as early as possible.

Whilst we’ll be contacting everyone who has pre-ordered Agarest: Generations of War 2 from us personally, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of the team for this delay.  We at Ghostlight and the Japanese developers have made every effort to release Agarest: Generations of War 2 on schedule but sometimes we run into unexpected issues that take time to resolve.  We realise that this news is very disappointing for everyone who has been looking forward to the game and we’d like to thank you for your patience and continued support.

In more positive news regarding Agarest 2, we have the Deluxe Edition bags and caps in stock and I’ve been tasked with taking some photos for next week’s blog, so watch out for those.  In fact the Deluxe Editions are very nearly sold out, so if you want to get your hands on this fantastic set then you can place your order here.

Moving away from Agarest now, I have some good news for all you PSP and Vita fans out there as the mighty Fate/EXTRA will be winging its way to the PSN store on 11th July, so keep your eyes on the PSN store for that one.

Also, anyone visiting the PSN store recently may have noticed that all our PSP titles are currently available at bargain prices as part of the PSN Vita sale.  For those of you who haven’t yet taken a glance on the PSN Store, here’s a quick rundown of what we’re offering:

Three of the greatest PSP JRPGs available on PSN, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky have all had their prices slashed from £23.99 (€29.99) down to a very tempting £13.99 (€17.99).  We’ve also cut the price of the Persona 3 / Persona 2 bundle and the Persona 2 / Trails in the Sky bundle from £39.99 (€49.99) down to just £23.99 (€29.99)!

We’re also offering a great saving on two of our classic SRPGs, as Generation of Chaos: Aedis Eclipse and Spectral Souls: Resurrection of Ethereal Empires have had their prices slashed from £11.99 (€14.99) down to and incredible £5.49 (€6.99)!

Finally, if you were curious about some of our earlier forays outside the RPG genre, now is the perfect time to check these games out, as International Athletics, Spinout and World of Pool have all had their prices cut from £5.49 (€ 6.99) down to just £3.19 (€ 3.99).

All of these games are playable on both Vita and PSP, but make sure you hurry over to the store as the sale ends on the 4th July.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll be back next week, but until then you can also follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Well, Ross, it's a new Blog post and therefore - as is tradition - we have to ask: 1) Any news on Persona 4: The Golden? 2) How about a release date for Devil Survivor:Overclocked or Devil Survivor 2? 3) Let's all keep Soul Hackers and SMTIV on the radar :) 4) Any thoughts on resurrecting Devil Summoner 2 on the PSN? 5) Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - any thoughts? I'm not known for my persistance, so I'll probably get bored of mentioning all this sooner or later :) So far, I've bought Trails in the Sky and P3P (my fourth purchase of Persona 3!) and downloaded them onto my Vita - good times ahead!
[GL] Ross says:

@KoolZoid Haha. 1) No news. 2) No news 3) It still appears on the radar. 4) No News 5) No News :) but we are interested. :)
Pedro Frias says:

Having released Fate/EXTRA will you be looking into bringing over Fate/EXTRA CCC when it's released in Japan? And speaking of imageepoch games... They have other fine looking games on PSP like 7th Dragon 2020 or the their final PSP game Sol Trigger, such a shame to miss out on games like these :( (hint) On a more happier note, finally going to buy P3P :D
[GL] Ross says:

Hi everyone. As the regulars here know the comments need to be pre-approved here. No one will be around this weekend to do that but all comments will be approved on Monday.
[GL] Ross says:

@Pedro Frias I'll mention it here but can't promise anything I'm afraid.
dgnfly says:

plz tell me that no more content has been cut fom the game?
Alistair says:

ahh the old censorship issue then the last time i look the book cover shows pegi 16 so that you advertises it on here means the deal was already done, ok what been done to solve it cuts to be made. by order of pegi or it now a pegi 18. my best bet is SCEE got invole with the rating issue because it just like them, i remember them delaying TM overrideing BBFC for TM to have cuts to be made. frankly im disgusted with SCEE.
Andrea says:

TitS and P2 buyed! :p Waiting more info 'bout SMT: DSO and 2.
Matt says:

Hi Xseed re about to release the game Unchained Blades on the PSP/3DS as a digital only title in the US. I have no idea if they plan to release it Europe aswell it's pretty touch'n'go and they haven't said. If not it'll be great if someone else good the game looks like a nice dungeon crawler.
LordRed91 says:

Hi there, can you tell us what the price is likely to be for the digital Fate/EXTRA? I'm VERY interested in this now, having seen a video of the battle system.
Sins says:

I don`t mind waiting for Agarest 2 a bit as I still need those 2 trophies from Zero before I start playing 2. the 10,000 kills and 2,500 battles. I really hope Agarest 2 actually lets you keep track of these kills, I hate being in the dark. In any case its a definate buy for me. I`m sure you guys recently saw the end of Fate/zero. It was one helluva ride. I so cannot wait for the Heavens feel movie and Fate hollow Alexendria which features Waver 10 years after the events of Fate/Zero. It has to be announced first but its bound to happen after the UBW movie after all. Either way I`ll get my Zero Platinum trophy and I will begin my playthrough of Agarest 2 in Augest. Thanks

Hello. With all dots blinking on radars, I'd be willing to add a little something about Etrian Odyssey IV, though I'd happily sacrifice that for the Megaten games out on the same system ... I also have a question. I haven't been following your company for a very long time, and I was wondering if you had the means to fully localize a Japanese game on your own ? If a game won't be released in the U.S., is it any use asking you to bring it over ? Anyway, thanks for being a cool company.
[GL] Ross says:

@dgnfly & @Alistair No further cuts have been made to the game. @Andrea I'll try to write a post about those two when I get some time :) @Matt I'll look into it and pass your suggestion on :) @LordRed91 I'll try and find out for this weeks blog. @Sins I saw the last episode of Fate/EXTRA. It was a really strong end to a good series. Made me want to rewatch Fate/Stay Night. @OoO We've done it before with the original Agarest and it's something we would be prepared to do if necessary but it is more expensive so it would have to be a very strong title.
KoolZoid says:

Well, after months of deliberation I finally took the plunge and grabbed TitS off the PSN like I said, and I've been playing with TitS all weekend. I gotta say, it's a great game - I can't believe I waited all this time for TitS! To everyone out there, if you don't have TitS now, you should get TitS immediately! It'll change your life! ........ can I get away with all that? :D
[GL] Ross says:

@KoolZoid Given how many blogs I spent playing with TitS I can't really comment :)
KoolZoid says:

Hmm... maybe you could have a competition for the most inventive use of the 'TitS' acronym in a sentence? And the worst one could win a booby prize.......
Tom says:

If you do bring over Persona 4 the Golden, could you keep it's original Japanese title intact. I think Persona 4 the Golden sounds a lot better than Persona 4 Golden
Alistair says:

"No further cuts have been made to the game." but it still had some cuts right. that why i so Hate PEGI rating @ross it should have gone though UK BBFC, because most version do go though alright via BBFC.
Roufas says:

Damn, more than 1 month delay is sad really, was really looking forward to it too, was counting the days just to get it, as if the censorship wasnt bad news enough :/
Pepe says:

If the game had been placed with over 18 could have gone without censure? Have thought to order but to know that cost the same and this will not be the complete set debere me think better.
Voidwarlock says:

Being abit of a trophy hunter will the things which have been removed from the game have any effect on the trophies or has the game been changed to incorporate any bonuses or items these removed parts would have given us.
Ben says:

@Pepe. That particular topic has already been done to death in a previous blog. But the answer is this: no, it could not. Had the game not been given that very small amount of censorship, then PEGI would not have given it a rating at all, meaning that Ghostlight could not have legally published it.
Wayne says:

I notice there was no mention of the digital devil saga series. How much longer can we expect to wait for these?
Alistair says:

but a pegi 16 can have adult themes even nudity some pegi 12 has nudity in them but mostly to symbolise the presence of a goddes. take the lunar series as a example, it must be so violent & swearing that demand a rethink even a BBFC 15 shows full frontal nudity a pegi 16 is = to BBFC 15.
Ben says:

@Voidwarlock. It has been stated, again in a previous blog, that relationship values and any other relevant statistics have been taken into account and tweaked accordingly to make up for the things removed.
Loli says:

How much will Fate/Extra be?
[GL] Daren says:

@Loli Check the blog later today for full details :)
[GL] Al says:

Hey everyone, Ross is away until tomorrow so I'll try and answer all the latest questions as best I can, in order of posting. Here goes (deep breath): @Koolzoid - I think that joke makes it a formality. You already won. ;) @Tom - IF we do the game (and it's still very much an if at this point) I will mention your feelings on the matter. :) @Alistair - PEGI's position was that a rating of ANY age wouldn't happen without the changes. There's already been an awful lot covered on the blog about this, so I'll leave it there. @Pepe - We're really sorry for the delay. The impact on the game really is minimal IMO. As @Ben points out the changes are minimal and we simply wouldn't have had a game to release at ANY age rating without the changes(which are almost entirely related to removing one character from the mini games). @Voidwarlock - All the trophies are still there and are unlocked just the same as they are in the other territories. Thanks again to @Ben for helping out with this one. :) @Wayne - We're doing our best to get DDS to you guys ASAP. It's out of our hands as it's an emulation issue, but things do look to be improving slowly. We'll keep you posted - we can't wait either!! :D @Loli - We address Fate/EXTRA's PSN pricing in today's blog, so keep 'em peeled for your answer later today. :)
Johny D says:

Fantastic sale dudes, still I agree with the last post of all the dudes who are asking for VCIII loved the first two. Hope you guys consider it. Looking forward to DSO and DDS ;3
Bh says:

Thanks a lot, finally got P3 and Trails. Looking forward to Fate/Extra.
KoolZoid says:

@Tom - I agree with you that 'The Golden' sounds better than just 'Golden'. However, the American opening movie for P4G refers to it only as 'Golden', and putting it back to 'The Golden' for EU markets might mean re-doing the animation again - even though it's only a few frames, this might be impossible. Ironically, the Japanese opening movie which refers to it as 'The Golden' is *entirely* in English and would be a perfect replacement for the US opening movie except for one thing - it refers to Teddie as 'Kuma'! In English! I don't think the Romaji for his name is used anywhere in the entire game but there it is in the opening animation :)
sakiu says:

A shame with the delay, happening often in Europe when it comes to games. I really wished all those procedures to release a game could have been more "user-friendly" here in EU -.- BTW could you guys think about VITA only users who would like to purchase Limited Edition of your games on PSP and play them on VITA :)? for example buying PSP version and then PSN version for the VITA would reward with a voucher for your store or something? would be cool o_O
sakiu says:

Forgot ;p Got myself P3P just so I could follow up from my 250h on game time when I had UMD version :D Persona 2 was hunted in the process as well. Cheers.
[GL] Ross says:

@Sakiu It's something we've looked into but at the moment it's not something Sony support.
