Agarest PC to get closed Beta. Elminage Original Collector’s Edition content: opinions wanted!

Hi everyone.  We’ve got lots of news for you all this week, but before we get tucked in to all the news, first a little reminder that the Devil Survivor Overclocked patch is out now on the Nintendo eShop.  If you’ve been waiting for the patch before buying the game, now is the perfect time to pick it up. :)  We’ve still got some stock left of the poster edition too, so if you want to get your hands on that lovely rolled A1 artwork you can order the poster edition here.

Moving on from my little sales spiel :) it recently occurred to me that we’ve been so busy on the blog lately that I haven’t had the chance to update you on how the PC port of Agarest: Generations of War is coming along.  So, what have the conversion team at Laughing Jackal been up to since we last caught up with them?

Well, in addition to a huge amount of bug squashing and movie conversions, I’m happy to report that all Xbox control icons are now replaced with mouse/keyboard ones (if that’s what you choose to play the game with.)  You can also remap the mouse/keyboard controls, giving you a lot more flexibility when playing.  One other nice little touch is that some of the caves which were very dark in the console version have been made a little brighter, so you should finally be able to see where you’re going. :)

There’s still plenty of work left for us all to do (with lots of decisions still to be made about pre-order bonuses and digital Collector’s Editions) but we’re definitely making good progress and I’ll be sure to keep you updated here on the Ghostlight blog.

Hang on a second! I’m sure there was something else I was going to mention… (checks title)… oh, yes the Beta! :)  In the near future we’re going to be offering a closed beta of Agarest on PC to a limited number of willing Steam participants.  If you’d be interested in participating, then please keep your eyes peeled, as we will be providing details on how you can get involved on the blog soon.

Moving back to handhelds, we’re busy looking at our options for the boxed Collector’s Edition of Elminage Original and we wanted to know what you thought.  We were thinking of including items like a soundtrack CD, PSN voucher for the game, T-shirt, a Monster Bestiary or Artbook, or some combination of these items.  Which would you be most interested in?  Or, is there something else along these lines that you’d like to see?

Understandably, we’ve been receiving plenty of questions about the PAL release of Devil Survivor 2 on DS.  We’re currently discussing options with our partners to give you all a chance to get your hands on this fantastic sequel to Devil Survivor.  We’re also looking very seriously at releasing a Ghostlight web exclusive.  I still can’t say more than that at the moment so please stay tuned for more information as we’ll be updating you soon.

Also, just to let you know that I’ve been told there’s going to be a Standard Edition available for Fate/EXTRA (PSP) very soon.  I’m also happy to report that we’ve lifted the territory restrictions on the title, so we can now ship the Standard and Collector’s Editions (together with exclusive items) throughout the PAL region if you order from the Ghostlight Store, here.

Lastly, still on the subject of handhelds, I’m pleased to say that the trailer for our recent release of the mighty Crash City Mayhem is now available to view on the 3DS eShop.

That’s all for now. I’ll be back next week with more news from Ghostlight. Until then you can follow Ghostlight on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our YouTube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight.  You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

I really hope you'll be releasing a physical limited edition of Elminage Original, since I love limited editions AND have been wanting to play Elminage for a long time. What I would want included in a limited edition is: a nice carton, the game (of course), soundtrack, a lanyard or pin with the game's logo or some characters on and a poster.

Here's to hoping you'll release a physical copy of Elminage in the EU. *fingers crossed*

Hi Ross,

Sorry for always asking questions related to Lucifers Call and Digital Devil but I was wondering if there were ever plans to release Lucifers call and the Digital devil games on a disc together as part of a collection?

I know that there was talk of psn releases but together would be so cool and I imagine a lot of people would have bought them.

Hehehe ...
And about the "Framerate" of the game, that will be better ?
And about the CG ? They will be changed or not ?
About a physical version, i can't buy it ...
No more disk reader. :'(

I will take so my DRM/Steam game. (If we can have the two in one ... I don't know if it's possible ? Like the Humble Games! )
And for sure : I hope that will be a good selling !

For Elminage Original CE, music cd and art book works for me.  Beastiary would be nice to have as well.

For EO if you include a Strategy guide or at least a map guide of all the dungeons with trap & special panels highlighted I will buy this game :P Though this game is European it would be nice if you could include the option to have either a US PSN code or a EU PSN code together with the release. :P

Soundtrack ,Monster Bestiary or Artbook if a US PSN code is not possible. I am from United States and would like to import this if possible. :)

Artbook+Monster Bestiary, OST  and maybe a Scroll

I prefer the simple collector's editions, like the one with the artbook and soundtrack cd. Some awesome packaging would be neat though, preferably a not too bix box for it. Keep being awesome.

Soundtrack CD and beastairy+artbook would be my top picks for the collector's edition :)

A soundtrack CD and art book for Elminage Original sounds good to me.

For the Elminage CE, I'd prefer a physical beastairy over anything else!

I'm going to be importing, so I'd prefer items that would be nice and tiny to ship. Artbook, OST, and anything else that's flat would be great. I mostly just want it in a box with a UMD inside. A digital voucher would be great, too.

I am all for physical collectors edition that would include PSN Voucher, also a book including a bestiary, some arts etc would also be great and in my opinion better than for example just an artbook.

Re: Elminage

I'd say "yes" for the PSN voucher, monster bestiary and artbook, "maybe" for the soundtrack (how good is the music anyway?) and "no" for the t-shirt. These t-shirts nowadays tend to be so big I could set up a tent inside them.

Mostly I'd love to have a book that's a combination of a manual, artbook, bestiary and assortet information on the game. If possible, a map and a guide.

Oh wow, Psychical release! I'm there for any CE. Personally I'd like a soundtrack/artbook combo would be great. I wouldn't say no to a T-shirt either if you can find a nice piece of artwork to put on it.

I'm from the US, but I suggest artbook+OST. The good stuff.

Artbook, OST and the UMD. I don't even need the voucher, I already bought the game from the US PSN Store.

PSN voucher + soundtrack CD or artbook sounds pretty great for a limited edition, though I'd definitely prefer the PSN voucher over any other just so I can slap it on my Vita. Would be handy!

for elminage, the tshirt in pretty useless in my opinion. I'd like to have some sort of "medieval things", or celtic...a scroll (whit a old-pattern paper) for the manual (whit an acient ink effetc) would be sooooooo great. Plus, i'd like to see NO plastic, only paper and cardboard.

Please consider a DRM free physical copy of Agarest, I would definately pick that up! :D It's not like Steamworks stops asshats pirating anyway tbf :/

Will there be a steam-free version of Agarest for PC?

I am really looking forward to the Elminage Collectors Edition! In my opinion, an artbook would be awesome, as the art of the Elminage-Series is really nice. As a second item, a wallscroll (!!!!) or a T-Shirt with a nice monster artwork would be cool! But I wouldn't say no to a Soundtrack-CD, either. BTW.:There is already a japanese Elminage artbook: http://betweenclaps.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/elminage-world-guidance/

For Elminage, I would have prefered a normal edition, that you can find 6 months or one year after its release. Here, if you want the umd version, you just have to pay it now, or never... Too bad for the one who haven't enough money.

My God! What an update! :-)

A PSN voucher for Elminage would be awesome for PSVITA owners. Wouldn't mind playing it on PSP though.

I don't know if it's an option, but it would be nice to have a full color manual, like with P3P. You don't see those anymore nowadays.

Just thinking out loud: since Elminage is about recovering rings, maybe you could put a ring in the CE. :-) Which would probably pose problems with the size and everything. :-)

For the case of Elminage Original, I feel that a soundtrack CD is definitely a must. I always love listening to the OST's I receive with my Japanese games, and I would feel a Collector's Edition incomplete without one.

A PSN voucher for the digital version of the game is nice, but not really something I would need. I do own a Vita, but I just don't download many full retail games. And as such, I would probably just end up selling the code for a bit of money.

Instead of a download code, I'd much rather have something I can hold in my hands and look at, like an artbook. Illustrations from the games you love are always nice to have and are great collector's items. Especially if they have a hard cover...

Hope you'll craft a beautiful Collector's Edition. I'll have faith in you all, and would do everything to get my hands on one! :)

Sincerely,
Remy

So, a question regarding Agarest, i've posted it on Steam too, but i don't know how often you read it there. so i'm posting this here too. Sorry if it's a nuisance though, it really isn't my intention to bother.

"Hey, can you guys change a portion of the gameplay itself? Because i've already played Agarest for Xbox (although i'd want to play it again on hard) and the only nuisance was that after choosing an attack your character moved automatically to the "nearest" possible spot.

My suggestion is, after choosing to use "Double Edge" with Elaine (spear), you can choose from which square she'll be attacking (near, far, left, right, up, down). That would open a lot more strategy to the game. Of course this "auto-positioning" could be toggled on the settings for those who doesn't want it.

It's possible?"

Thanks for quick reply. I realize this is more complicated than a snap of your fingers. Looking forward to (good) news :)

What console will Elminage be released for? Would it just be a voucher with no hard copy of the game then?

@Ladygrace We're not quite ready yet but when we usually open pre-orders when we have a release date.

@Ross BrierleyAny idea when this is coming out? I love that a jrpg as good as this is coming to the PC and cannot wait to get my hands on this. I check steam everyday hoping to see it. Any rough idea as to win people can get a hold of closed beta or just a release date? Any idea on how much the price will be for standard and digital collector edition (if there is one).

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@LOBO4000 No problem .  I'm afraid there aren't any plans for that at the moment.  I'll mention it but I suspect it's probably not possible.

landlock

@Aristides I don't think UFO Interactive would like that very much!

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Aurelie The trouble is that there is currently very little retail interest in PSP games which makes it difficult to justify producing a full print run of the game.  It will however continue to be available on PSN for people who are unable to buy at launch.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Raxyz No problem :) Was just about to answer it on Steam actually.  I'll raise the suggestion with the coding team and see what they say.  While the game is largely going to be the same they have changed certain areas such as the lighting in the caves.

Ross Brierley
Ross Brierley moderator

@Dean Koash It's a PSP title.  The idea is that we'd release a physical edition where you get a PSN voucher for the game too.

Aristides

@landlock Though I support UFO they're not the ones contemplating physical release are they? I game on my Vita so a PSN voucher would be really nice, but if not I'd get this if the collectors goodies are worthwhile.

@Ross Brierley @Dean Koash This is amazing news. I would deffo buy this. The artbook, PSN code, soundtrack & T shirt together would make an amazing collectors edition!
