Agarest is out today

Hi everyone.  I’m happy to say that your wait is nearly at an end:  Agarest: Generations of War will be released on Steam in just a few hours.  Unless, of course, it’s already past 6pm GMT when you read this, in which case the game is already out - surprise!  Our thanks have to go out again to everyone who has supported our cause by already ordering the game and in fact we managed to sneak in to the very top spot on Steam’s Top Sellers!

In the last couple of days I’ve been very busy organising the marketing materials to send out ahead of Agarest’s release.  Perhaps unsurprisingly, I’ve had lots of Press interest, more than I usually get. It’s nice to be popular :)  Hopefully the reviewers will love the game and appreciate all the hard work we’ve put into this conversion.  No doubt you’ll be seeing their comments over the next few days so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Even if you’re still on the fence and waiting for those reviews to come in, I can tell you that Agarest will continue to be made available with a 20% discount for the next week.  But you only have until the end of the pre-order period to make sure you also receive the selection of extra paid DLC absolutely free.  So why not go and pre-order the game here?

Speaking of DLC, there’s been a slight change of plans. Rather than offering the free DLC for download separately over the coming weeks, it will now be bundled into the game from the outset.  That means that when you buy the game, all of the following items of DLC will be included:

  • Basic Pack - Contains 1 each of Resurrect, Capture, and Resist Direction, 2 each of Heal and Refresh, and 5 Vessels of Life.
  • Offense-Defense Pack- Contains 1 Adaka, 1 Shield Sword, 1 Bird Eye, 1 Magic Frame, 1 Critical Hit, and 2 Seeds of Happiness.
  • Additional-Points Pack 1 - Contains 10,000G, 100PP, 250TP, and 500EP.
  • Recovery-Skill Pack - Contains 2 Light Heals, 2 Harvest Heals, and 2 Cure Alls, as well as 1 Prayer, 1 Gospel, and 1 Counter.
  • Flower Pack - Contains 1 Lucky Charm, 1 HP Up, 1 Resist Ailments, 1 Restore HP 15%, and 1 Restore AP++, as well as 2 Moonlight Flowers, and 3 Tree Spirit Souls.
  • General-Purpose Pack - Contains 1 Magic Blade, 1 Partisan, 1 Battle Frame, 1 Bracelet of Feicui, and 1 Item Drop Rate Up, as well as 2 Shiny Fangs, and 2 Advanced Heals.
  • Add-on Dungeon 1 - An add-on dungeon for generation 1. An uncharted adventure awaits you on the Holy Island of Erin!
  • Add-on Dungeon 2 - An add-on dungeon for generation 2. A new frontier waits to be explored along the Trum Coast!
  • Add-on Dungeon 3 - An add-on dungeon for generation 3. It's time to reunite with old friends at Magna Val!
  • Add-on Dungeon 4 - An add-on dungeon for generation 4. Embark on an exciting journey to the mysterious Tresor Island!
  • Add-on Dungeon 5 - An add-on dungeon for generation 5. Embark on one last adventure into the Deep Forest Naruvia!

Remember, if you’re a hardy adventurer and prefer not use any particular items of DLC, the PC version offers the option to disable DLC when starting a new game.  If (like me) you do like a helping hand from time to time, more DLC will be made available in the weeks following release so be sure to keep your eyes on the store for updates.

Moving on to Devil Survivor 2 and I don’t really have much to add to last week’s post.  Unusually, this actually makes me quite happy as we’re at a point where no news is good news :) In case you’ve missed the last couple of blogs I’ll just remind you by saying that our stock will be dispatched to us on 11th October and we’ll start sending your copies out to you from the 15th October.

And before I go, I can confirm that we’ll be running a Ghostlight Autumn Sale with solid discounts on selected items, so be sure to check back to the store in the next few days for some bargains.

I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

May I ask - Has Ghostlight Ltd. kept the censorship in the PC version as well ?  Or is it the original JP uncensored ver.  ?

What are the chances of us getting Agarest 2 on Steam? It's PS3 slowdown can only be described as ungodly.

WOO ITS HEREEEEEEE

So happy <3 Hopefully I get the chance to get it myself soon~

On another note, just curious, how successful has this been so far? Asking because it hit Steam top 10(1!) pretty often >3>

Other than that, looking forward to playing this and checking out any other JRPGS you bring to PC <3

@Hewie There wasn't any censorship in the console version of Agarest: Generations of War and there is no censorship in the PC version either.

@eclipsezero Can't comment  on numbers unfortunately but I've been really happy with it's chart positions.

@Flep I'm afraid that we currently have no plans to release Agarest: Generations of War on PSN

@fodao45 It's a fantastic SRPG that mixes all the goodness you'd expect from a JRPG with a grid based more strategic battle system

@ChibiShiroiRyu Thanks.  I'm afraid I comment on sales numbers but the chart positions are rather good :)

As for the other DLC we're going to be releasing the Xbox DLC from this list http://agarest.wikia.com/wiki/DLC but the prices may differ.

 As for Agarest Marriage afraid I don't have any news on it.

@KevinKomicOShea

I doubt that will effect Ghostlight at all. Agarest is one of the most niche RPGs ever released on the PS3, they have a small audience, enough for Ghostlight to make a bit of money off it but not enough to call it a valuable asset that's worth holding onto, they will sell it to the highest bidder and seeing as Ghostlight and them seem to have a good working relationship I have no doubts about Ghostlight getting further Agarest games.

@Ross Brierley i'm going to give u cheated save with cheat engine, normally i don't cheat since it's easy game  that's the last one i have from this generation (i started new game once more coz i thought i lack of some times to proceed forward)

@ghostlightgames Thx guys, you conviced me, only downside is that it doesn't have english voices, but that's ok!

@Ross BrierleyDon't be afraid for Agarest Marriage, i'm more looking for Zero and 2. ^^ Anyways, for the DLC, didn't knew about them on Xbox. Had the PS3 version. For the pack, i hope you will do some offers like a lot of pack for less money ... And good new for the chart position !

@Hewie @Ross Brierley First of all the PC release is based on the North American Xbox 360 release so uses all the images from that.

As for why the our PS3 uses a different image than the Japanese 360 version that is because they used slightly different images in the Japanese PS3 & 360 releases.  The EU PS3 version is based on the Japanese PS3 version.

@BenoitRen

I thought that was all done by Aksys games? Ross has never chimed in to correct me when I said no translation work has been done by Ghostlight themselves.

Aksys even say they specialize in translation work.

BenoitRen

@Matt1201 @ChibiShiroiRyu"Ghostlight don't do any translation work"

 Actually, they did translate the first Agarest game for the PS3. The translation quality wasn't that good, though. The Steam version is based on Aksys's translation for the XBox 360 version.

Matt1201

@ChibiShiroiRyu

Ghostlight don't do any translation work, so it would be difficult for them to get Agarest Marriage. I would imagine had someone actually bothered to translate it in America they would of announced it by now.

It's a shame really, I could name a dozen games people would like that don't have a release outside of Japan but no one seems to be set up in England to translate games, outside of the big companies anyway.

I still think they should be looking at Mind Zero on the Vita if someone picks up, the Persona similarities are there, despite being a first person dungeon crawler(Although I own the game, look at the youtube vids to see my point, its a good ripoff lol). Atlus don't seem bothered anyway.
