A Closer Look at the Deluxe Edition

Thu, 17th May 2012 | Posted by Ross

Hi Everyone.  As you probably noticed, last week we announced the Collector’s Editions for Agarest: Generations of War 2 and the Deluxe Edition announcement was particularly awesome, if I do say so myself.  It seems that most of you agree, as not only have the pre-orders been doing well, but the Deluxe Edition is actually outselling the Collector’s Edition. :)

Nevertheless, we did have some questions on the size and specifications of the bag and cap and since we now have a sample of the cap and bag in the office (albeit unbranded as of yet) we thought why not take some photos and to let you all get a sense of how they’ll look? So we did:

Looks great don’t you think?  Obviously these are missing the final artwork, but hopefully that should give you a clearer idea of what the final product will look like.  And if you do like it you can pre-order your copy of this fantastic Agarest 2 Deluxe Edition here. Of course, those of you who have not been won over by this glorious swag can pop over to the Collector’s Edition and pre-order that instead.

There were some other issues that came up after last week’s blog and firstly I would like to clarify that the digital soundtrack is included in the Deluxe Edition and the Collector’s Edition if you order via the Ghostlight webstore.

Finally, for those of you who haven’t kept up with the comments thread on the last blog, we have had to make a small number of minor changes to the game.  Firstly, while she remains a playable character, we have had to remove the 1st generation version of Fiona from the minigames (and only the minigames). Don’t worry, affection levels have been taken into account when making this change.

In addition to this we have had to remove 4 static images from the game.  Please understand that we are making these changes under advisement from PEGI and the USK, as without their approval we would be unable to publish the game at all.  To be totally honest, I feel this topic has been done to death in the comments to the previous blog, so we are unlikely to be discussing this further, but I felt you should know.

Thanks.

Anyway, that’s all for now.  We’ll be back next week. Until then you can also follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

As pre-orders for the deluxe edition of Agarest: Generations of War 2 have been going so well that it's possible our suppliers might run out of blue bags in that style. If this does happen would you want us to get some more done in another colour?
FayteDreams says:

I get paid in the next few days, so count a Deluxe Edition for me XD. I don't mind the other colours, but may I ask what the other Colours may be?
[GL] Ross says:

@FayteDream I don't think it's been decided yet. It's something we'll look into if people are broadly in favour of it and we do actually sell out of the blue bags.
Tom says:

I've already pre ordered so I'm probably stuck with blue, shame because I reckon a teal green colour would look nice
Ailtin says:

Looks neat. Great that I am one of many who pre-ordered those nice peaces of gear :) Hm..Depends, is blue in general out of supply ? Maybe a slightly darker version/lighter version of blue might do, that is marine blue or teal for example :) Green or red are too out of the line, so I wouldnt really know any other colour besides maybe gray or so :/
Remy says:

Hi Ross, Yes, they look like good products. However, as big as an Agesrest-fan I am, I'll stick with the Collector's Edition. I really have no need for a bag and a cap, let a lone space for it. :P And by the way, I have knowledge of you being in contact with a certain Dutch website, intheGame. It seems you'll be showing off a collection there. Maybe your personal one? Or the one from the Ghostlight offices? Oh well, I'm an editor there, so I guess I'll be seeing the photo's this weekend, if all goes well! And lastly, I can't wait for the European release of Agarest: Generations of War 2! Thank you, guys! Sincerely, Remy P.S. Should I stop dreaming about a Trophy patch for Agarest: Generations of War? I think I should, but for some reason, I can't. And I'm not even a Trophy hunter!
[GL] Ross says:

@Remy It's my personal one :) Need to take some piccies of it tonight. I don't think we're likely to do a trophy patch for the first Agarest.
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

You've actually confused me more (sorry) so is it a digital only soundtrack or do we get a cd? ... or both? Plus I'd love a red bag, actually I'd prefer pink from an asthetic point of view BUT I do actually intend on well... using it in public :P Anyway very excited for this and heres hoping you have more PS3/Vita games to announce :)
[GL] Ross says:

@Pepsi_Biofusion It's on a CD and comes in a jewel case.
Remy says:

Ross, I'd be interested in seeing your personal collection, then. I just hope it won't include titles like Call of Duty. No offence to the people that play them, but they're not for me. And that Trophy-patch for Agarest: Generations of War, I can see where you're coming from when you're saying a patch for the European version is unlikely, but then again, the US version has Trophies. And even though the title of the game there is slightly different, wouldn't Aksys Games be willing to strike a deal? It would make a lot of fans happy, and might even result in people replaying the game just to collect Trophies. :) Last question for this message, thougn, and I hope you can asnwer it with a yes. Will the instruction manual of Agarest: Generations of War 2 be in black and white? Or is it an awesome full-color one? In all, I hope it'll be more of an instruction manual than the ones EA Games hands out nowadays. Those are just a shame and can't even be called instruction manuals! Once again... Sincerely, Remy
[GL] Ross says:

@Remy It's actually a joint collection between me and my brother. He plays a few FPS' but there aren't many. As for the patch it's something we have looked into before but sadly it's just not possible I'm afraid. Finally the manual is going to be black and white again I'm afraid.
Remy says:

Black and white is okay, as long as it's an actual manual. Not like the ones EA has. Seeing such manuals makes me sad as a gamer.
Remy says:

Ross, Sorry for posting so many messages, but something else just popped into my mind. I don't know if you can answer this just yet, but does Ghostlight have any plans to localize Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for PSP, Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena for PS3 and/or Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4: The Golden for PSVita? I'm really looking forward to all of those games, and most of the time, Ghostlight is the go-to place for localizations of the the Persona-titles... Hope to hear back from you! Sincerely, Remy
[GL] Ross says:

@Remy While of course it's too early for us to comment on these titles we do love the Persona series so we are aware of them.
Koffie says:

I just got my P3P CE a few weeks ago, and it was then that I also found out Eternal Punishment for PSP had was coming out today in Japan. I was omg like please let that game come out in Europe as well so I can complete my PSP Persona collection. I won't buy a Vita anytime soon, so I'd probably end up buying Persona 4: The Golden before I even own a Vita. So I'm also hoping for these titles to come to Europe one day. I don't own a PS3 so I don't have much to say on Agarest, but it looks like another awesome Deluxe & Collectors Edition that Ghostlight can be proud of.
[GL] Ross says:

@Koffle Thanks :)
JC says:

I would like to see more in other colours (if you run out of blue) as long as it isn't pink. For other colours of the bag i prefer maybe light grey, purple or orange. Any idea on when the cut off date for pre-orders for this might be?
Geo says:

Any news on the PSN version of Fate?
Moothor says:

I originally wasn't going to post this since it never seemed relevant, but seeing as it's been mentioned twice here, I'd also like to add my support for an EU release of P2: Eternal Punishment. =P
Kosakai says:

will you be adding the content you removed though DLC or is it a no no for you guys?
[GL] Ross says:

@JC I've not had a date yet but as soon as I get one I'll let you all know. @Neo not at the moment I'm afraid. @Kosakai No can do. We're not allowed to have it in the game or available through DLC.
Kosakai says:

Awww what a shame the EU version is gonna be kinda Censored well i though this might happen and i also pre-order the Collectors Editon fron Aysks but dont worried i order from you guys as well which is the Deluxe Edition which have being paid already to support you. just asking but how long does it normally take for you to ship it over to Australia once you have your Shipment?
[GL] Ross says:

@Kosakai I believe it usually takes between 1 -2 weeks for a parcel to make its way to Australia.
Komic says:

I finally put in my order for this and then I learn of Agarest Marriage on the psp. I'd expecting you to do this guys.
ObviusFault says:

Hey Ross! I see you have made no distribution deals yet :) How does it work when you place and order and you guys get the deal AFTER? Do you still send or do you cancel?
Tom says:

I'm really enjoying Fate/Extra, but I don't like that Lanrukun's name was changed to Lil' Ronnie (Presumably to spoof a certain Ronald)unfoutunately the reference, however would of had more effect if the clown was male. However I will not allow the pointless Americanization ruin my enjoyment of the game, mainly due to the fact so far the name change and no saves in the Arena(I'm addicted to level grinding) are my only negatives I can give so far. Everything else has been fun, and I love how the game has so much choice for the players. I do have one question though, what purpose was giving the protagonist a nickname? I've yet to see it be used in the game
Tag says:

Hi, i was wondering can the deluxe edition be purchased by customers in the US through the Ghostlight store?
Seishoujyo says:

Hello Ross and GS, thank you for this great work, I have 3 questions: 1: red color bag, is this possible ? 2: can we buy it from France on the GS shop ? You know there was a problem for Persona 2 or Trails in the Sky. 3: can you give us a hint about Devil Survivor Overclocked release date ? Fall ? Winter ? Maybe the month. I want to buy Inazuma but if DS release date is close I m gonna just wait. Thanks again.
[GL] Ross says:

@ObviusFault I'd imagine we would honour any orders made with us before that point. @Tom From what I remember some characters refer to you by your nickname at times. @Seishoujyo 1. We're only offering it in blue at the moment. If our supplier runs out of blue ones we may do another colour but that has not been decided yet nor has it been decided what that colour would be. 2 You can indeed purchase the game from France. 3. At the moment all we have is sometime this year. It won't be this month though.
Tag says:

Awww i was the only person whose question didn't get answered. :( I guess ill try again, can the deluxe edition be purchased by customers in the US by ordering through the Ghostlight store?
[GL] Ross says:

@Tag Sorry about that. I'm not sure to be honest. I'm currently looking into this so hopefully I'll have an answer for you by tomorrow.
dgnfly says:

@ross this might sound weird but any chance you guys incrase the games you guys publish i see 2 many anime games geting released in U.S with like zero publishers for europe. the games that like Remy mentiond i kinda takes it we could compare you guys like with monkeypaw games NIS america which i kinda like in publisher they serve fans better.
Tag says:

Thank you! :)
Devil_Summoner says:

Sorry to bother you Mr. Ross, but will be someday (or thinking about) a Ghostlight PAL-Release from Soul Hackers 3DS-Version or a PSN-Playstation 2 Classic Date from SMT III: Nocturne? These are great games, that nobody knows except of old SMT fans^^ and some Persona-Fans.
[GL] Ross says:

@dgnfly We're always looking to pick up more games but not only do we have a limited capacity for the number of games we can work on at any one time but also we can only really pick up a game if we're offered it at the right price. @Devil_Summoner We're big fans of the SMT series so we are aware of Soul Hackers as for Nocturne/Lucifer's Call we're certainly interested in bringing more of our classic PS2 games to PSN.
Chris says:

Hey Ross, speaking of SMT for PS2 Classics. Any news on Digital Devil Saga Release? Is the delay really only a matter of time, or is there a possibility the release will be canceled? I'm so looking forward to it, but when delays like this happen without actual new release dates i always fear that at one point you never hear something about it again.
[GL] Ross says:

@Chris It's moved one step closer so hopefully we should be past the major hold-up. Anyway don't worry about it being cancelled it will be coming to PSN.
dgnfly says:

i hop you guys are making some profit from the title's you publish we fans will keep buying. so keep up the good work!!! also any chance you guys publish the older games atlus published that don't have like psn release? i'm tired off telling SCEE too get off their ass and call publisher 2 publish games.and atlus refuses 2 publish em in europe.
Flep says:

@ross any news about a psn release of Fate/Extra I really want to play this since you said it was kinda like p3p. And even if it's not as good as p3p, as long as it's just half as good it's worth my money. I really hope for a soon psn release, and by the way do you have any plans of making Agarest available on psn?
[GL] Ross says:

@dgnfly I'll mention it to my boss but I'm not sure how possible it will be. @Flep No news yet on a PSN release for Fate/EXTRA but it will happen eventually. As for Agarest on PSN I'm not sure but I'll look into it.
Jeffrey says:

Well, i will say, just leave the games alone outside the Shin Megami Tensei+Persona and Agarest series. just concentrate on Persona 2 Eternal Punishment Persona 4:the Golden Agarest PSP Devil Survivor Overclocked Devil Survivor 2
Ivan says:

Hi Ross, i have a question, will the deluxe edition be packed in the same box as the collectors edition? how will the bag and the cap be packed? will it have some kind of uniq box or? thx for the reply, cheers
[GL] Ross says:

@Ivan It will use the same box as the collector's edition I think. In the past we've sent items out seperately but I'm not sure if they will all be packed in the bag or if we'll do something else. I'll try and find out for you.
Marc says:

Are the cap and bag included separately to the game package or does everything come in a big box like for example the one of the Final Fantasy 13-2 Crystal Edition?
[GL] Ross says:

@Ivan & @Marc if you order the Deluxe pack, then they will receive the Collector's Edition in a slip case which will house the game, hard back art book, art cards and poster. The CD+Jewel Case, baseball cap and messenger bag are all separate exclusive items available through the website only and everything will be sent out in one parcel - well packed of course
Dx says:

I'm aware of how old this post is but in light of reading this anyway, I'm sad to hear that original game content has been removed for... stupid censorship outside Japan. Always makes me feel like buying the original game to see what's missing. I don't know much about the story/content of Agarest War 2, nor its series but it seems like an interesting SRPG to play. I have Zero (Pre-owned US version) that I randomly found at my game store and its somewhat interesting so far, its like Fire Emblem with a little twist and some the unique JRPG flavour. I already pre-ordered the DX edition before reading this sooo... lol. Would you know whether the US version will be cutting content as well?
[GL] Ross says:

@Dx I'm not sure what Aksys are doing about the US edition.
Dx says:

Well, I know it's released now but their website doesn't seem to show a contact us email... which kind of a shame if anyone wants to make an inquiry. Had been clinking links and looping around for minutes and no luck.
